Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor 

Location: Northamptonshire - Candidates must be flexible with travel 
 
Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 (Dependent on experience & qualifications)

Type: Full time, Permanent

Duties:

  • Deliver Functional Skills (Maths and English) up to level 2 to a range of students, from vulnerable/challenging behaviours, to gifted and talented students (ages 13-16 years old)
  • Providing one to one and group support within a classroom environment, in order for them to progress through their Functional Skills qualifications
  • Identify any barriers to learning and plan effective training based on individual learner needs
  • Create a positive classroom working environment
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans, as well as continuous curriculum development
  • Prepare students for examinations
  • Provide progress feedback to learners and provide support to ensure they meet their set goal / target
  • Ensure each learner's progression is recorded efficiently

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of delivering English, Maths and ICT Functional Skills up to level 2.
  • Hold own Level 3 Teaching qualification (PTLLS/AET or equivalent)
  • Ideally hold or willing to work towards the following qualifications: level 5 teaching qualification, Qualified Teacher Status (QTLS)  - full training and support will be provided by our client to achieve these. 
  • Have experience of working with students presenting challenging behaviour, special educational needs or those who are not suited to mainstream education
  • Must have an interest or solid occupational competency in: Art & Design, Sports, Cookery etc.
  • Proven experience of motivating and engaging young learners to help make a difference in their lives
  • Excellent classroom management skills and ability to manage behavioural issues
  • Confident and professional, with the ability to inspire and motivate young people
