Principal Teachers currently has a vacancy for a Teacher of Geography to commence a long term post at a secondary school in the Darlington area. The Head Teacher is seeking to appoint a passionate professional to join the Humanities Department from the end of January 2018 on a full time basis until at least Easter 2018 with the likelihood of extension. The successful applicant will be required to deliver an engaging KS4 (GCSE) curriculum to students in Years 9-11 following the new curriculum guidelines to motivate and challenge all students. Working with the other teachers within the department, you will need to plan and assess meticulously to drive exam results forward and cater to the needs of diverse classes.

This successful school is based in a vibrant area of Darlington,and serves a diverse catchment area. The successful applicant will be welcomed into a thriving and experienced Humanities Department and gain access to a wealth of resources and excellent site facilities. You will need to demonstrate your ability to plan and assess to a high standard to ensure that students of a range of abilities are catered to and are provided with the learning opportunities they need to succeed. Behaviour expectations across the school are high and so you will need to embrace the school’s ethos and policies to ensure standards are upheld.

The successful applicant will have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognisable in the UK
* Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
* Previous experience of teaching in the UK
* Knowledge of the current curriculum requirements for Geography
* Enthusiasm for the role and a creative flare
* The ability to form excellent working relationships with staff and pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds
* Experience of planning and assessment to a very high standard
* A commitment to improving attainment for all students
* A proven track record for raising attainment and achieving targets
