If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Teaching Assistant at a primary school in Wigan.
Working in the role of 121 Teaching Assistant in this supportive and friendly 1 form entry primary school, you will play an essential role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of a student in a Year 5 class with Autism.
Your primary day to day duties will include:
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to ensure the child's needs are met on a day to day basis and lessons are supported in line with the child's IEP.
Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for the child, and reinforcing positive behaviours.
Liaising with the class teacher to implement and develop behaviour strategies and rewards systems for the child.
Feeding information back to the class teacher and planning for the following day.
Ensuring the safety of all students in the classroom and assisting when needed.
Contributing to the overall development and well-being of our school community and helping when required.
Experience & Qualifications:
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Health & Social qualification. (desired but not essential)
Have previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or care setting.
A strong understanding of special educational needs and ideally Autism (ASD/ASC)
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting the diverse needs of our students.
