The School and Role
An Alternative Provision school based in Southampton are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to start in as soon as possible. The school caters for primary pupils aged social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
You will play a crucial role in supporting our students, helping them to engage with their learning and develop the skills they need to succeed. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to implement individualised learning plans and provide a safe, stimulating, and encouraging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students with their learning, helping to build their confidence and independence.
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their emotional and social development.
- Supervise students during class, breaks, and other activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Contribute to the assessment and evaluation of student progress, helping to track their achievements.
- Collaborate with educational psychologists, social workers, and other professionals to support individual student wellbeing.
Requirements
The desired Teaching Assistant will have;
- Experience of working with primary school aged children
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND/SEMH
- A passion for the progress of pupils
- An ability to work as part of a team
