Our vibrant private setting school in Wimbledon is seeking a committed individual to join our team and provide invaluable 1:1 support for a non-verbal autistic child in Key Stage 3/4.

Position Overview: We are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work closely with a non-verbal autistic child, offering specialized 1:1 support within Key Stage 3 & 4. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing the engagement model and closely monitoring progress through various activities and tasks tailored to the child's unique needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an autistic, non-verbal child in Key Stage 3&4.
  • Implement and adapt the engagement model to suit the child's individual requirements.
  • Facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to create and implement personalised learning plans.
  • Monitor and assess the child's progress, adjusting strategies as needed to foster development.
  • Foster positive relationships with the child, promoting a sense of security and trust.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a focus on supporting children with autism.
  • Understanding of the engagement model and experience implementing it effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of non-verbal autistic children.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to individual learning styles.
