Role: Teaching Assistant

Location: M20, South Manchester
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am-4:00pm)
Pay: 13.69 to 15.87 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-term

A large, welcoming primary school in the M20 area of South Manchester is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Upper Key Stage 2 team. This long-term, full-time Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone confident working across both Year 5 and Year 6, supporting pupils in class as well as providing targeted 1:1 support where required.

Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning across Upper Key Stage 2 as a committed Teaching Assistant
    Provide 1:1 support for pupils who need additional help with learning, behaviour, or emotional regulation
    Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging and accessible lessons
    Set up resources and assist with daily classroom routines as a proactive Teaching Assistant
    Deliver small group interventions in areas such as reading, maths, and SATs preparation
    Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, consistent learning environment
    Adapt strategies to meet the needs of different learners across UPKS2
    Communicate effectively with staff and parents where needed as a reliable Teaching Assistant
    Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
    Uphold the school's values and expectations in all aspects of your work as a Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school (UPKS2 preferred)
    Strong behaviour management and the confidence to work with older primary pupils
    Ability to deliver both general classroom support and targeted 1:1 intervention
    Commitment to full-time, long-term work, Monday to Friday
    A positive, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting learners
    An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
    A genuine passion for supporting children as a dedicated Teaching Assistant
