We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a vibrant mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This is a full-time, long-term role with an immediate start, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journey of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum effectively.
- Assist with classroom activities to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to deliver Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support learning objectives.
- Adapt resources and teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Support students' social and emotional development, promoting their confidence and independence within the school setting.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to the SENDCo, teachers, and parents/guardians.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children in a professional setting, ideally within a secondary school environment.
- Experience working with SEND students and a strong understanding of various learning needs and strategies to support them.
- Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service (essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and compassionate approach.
- A commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.
