Teaching Assistant

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Market Harborough
  • Contract Type: Temporary - until May 2025
  • Start Date: As soon as possible

Hays are working in partnership with a 'Good' 11-19 Secondary School in a charming market town in South Leicestershire. The school are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography Teacher. This is a full-time role until May 2025.


Role Overview: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students across the school that have individual EHCPs to aid in their academic and social development. Your role will involve providing tailored support to meet the specific needs of each student across a variety of subject areas. Students have a range of special needs with the biggest requirement being SEMH. Experience providing personal care is desirable but not essential.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher with the delivery of lessons and to help where necessary in the preparation of resources.
  • Provide general classroom and intervention support as and when needed.
  • Assist in promoting positive behaviour throughout the school, implementing different strategies as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to enhance the students' learning environment.
  • Participate in the implementation of Individual Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Monitor and record student progress, ensuring any changes or concerns are communicated to the relevant parties.
  • Some elements of personal care may be included within this role.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant is essential.
  • Experience in supporting SEMH needs is essential.
  • Experience providing 1:1 support is desirable.
  • A passion for working with children and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A relevant teaching assistant or childcare qualification would be advantageous, though not essential.
