Job Description

Empowering Learning are working with a special needs primary school in Wolverhampton who focus on providing tailored education for children aged 2-11 with a diverse range of special needs. They support children with autism, challenging behaviours, learning disabilities, and other needs that cannot be met in mainstream education settings.

We are searching for a caring and reliable Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is crucial in supporting the educational and developmental needs students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with small groups of students and/or one-to-one with pupils with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans.
  • Be the extra helping hand around the classroom to maintain organisation and a productive learning environment.
  • Utilise various of strategies to manage and support students behaviour.
  • Assist with personal care needs of students, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support when necessary.
  • Create positive relationships with pupils to build their social and emotional development.


  • Previous experience working with children with special needs is essential.
  • A relevant qualification in education or special needs is preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Ability to adapt to various situations and handle challenging behaviours calmly and effectively.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all students.

You do not need to have qualifications for this role, the school are looking for the right person with the passion to help. The school pride themselves on how friendly the team is and are always on hand to help and support. In this role you will be supporting the teacher within the classroom, ensuring the learning objectives are met and general classroom tasks.
