Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Contract: Full-time

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? GSL Hull's offfice are working closley with a Multiacademy Trust Secondary School to locate a 1:1 teaching assistant.

GSL Education Hull Branch are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a school in Hull on a full-time basis, with positions starting 02 September 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

Must have a DBS on the update serivce.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Your role will involve providing personalized support, assisting with classroom activities, and ensuring that each student s individual needs are met.

SEN Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with special educational needs, tailoring your approach to meet their unique requirements.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Personal Care: Support students with personal care needs, ensuring their well-being and comfort throughout the school day.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies to support students in developing social and emotional skills.
  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare learning materials and resources to support teaching and learning activities.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assist in monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to the planning and assessment process.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable. You should have a solid understanding of additional needs such as Autism, Learning Difficulties, Speech, Language and Communication Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for working with students with additional needs and a commitment to their development and well-being.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to varying needs and situations within the school environment.
