Location: Houghton Regis, Luton, Bedfordshire
Salary: 85-95 depending on experience - AWR compliant after 12 weeks
Contract Type: Long-term with potential for a permanent role
Start Date: 6th January 2025

Tradewind are currently working closely with a mainstream Primary School who are looking to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant to join their tight knit team in the new year. This mainstream school is proud of its SEN offering and are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who can contribute to its success. Your role will be working closely with children in Year 1 with additional needs. The children are capable of independent working but will need your support breaking down more difficult concepts by using your imagination and drawing on their interests to bring the learning to life.

You will also be responsible for taking small groups outside of the classroom and running interventions in Phonics and Maths. Prior experience of Phonics would be beneficial but is not essential.

This role would be great for a recent graduate who is looking for some classroom based experience before completing their teacher training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Year 1 Class Teacher to create a fun and effective learning environment
  • Build a strong rapport with children within the classroom
  • Work on a 1-1 basis with children with ASD, ADHD and MLD
  • Track and monitor student progress, adapting teaching methods to meet their needs.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and staff.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children with SEN is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for supporting students with diverse educational needs.
