Long-Term SEN Teaching Assistant - Lancaster

Location: Small Primary School, Lancaster
Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: Full-time, approx. 26-28 hours per week
Start Date: January 2026 until July 2026
Contract: Long-term

About the Role:


Veritas Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a small, welcoming primary school in Lancaster. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's educational journey.

You will be working one-to-one with a pupil in KS1 who is currently working at EYFS level, providing tailored support to help them access learning and thrive in the classroom. The role requires patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach to meet the child's individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Adapt learning activities to suit the child's developmental stage
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies
  • Monitor and record progress

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (preferably in a primary setting)
  • Understanding of EYFS and KS1 curriculum
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A valid DBS or willingness to obtain one
