SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching are working in partnership with a specialist primary school in Dibden, Southampton, which supports pupils aged 4-11 with Autism and associated complex needs. The school is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support its growing cohort of pupils.

Contract Details:

  • Location: Dibden, Southampton
  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Type of Work: Classroom and 1:1 support for pupils with Autism

  • Minimum Rate of Pay: From 105.21 (actual pay based on experience)
  • Hours: 8:30am-16.30pm

The successful candidate will:

  • Support children with Autism and additional complex needs
  • Assist with preparing learning materials and delivering engaging activities
  • Offer emotional, behavioural and academic support both in and out of the classroom
  • Supervise pupils during structured and unstructured times, including outdoor learning and off-site visits
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships
  • Be calm, patient, adaptable and resilient in their approach
  • Thrive as part of a team-focused and child-centred environment

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, Maths and Science
  • Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs is highly desirable
  • Willingness to take part in physical activities, outdoor learning, and team teaching
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (or willingness to complete)

Eligibility:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online Update Service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional, child-related references
