SEN Teaching Assistant

110- 120 per day

Long Term Futures is seeking a patient, resilient and highly nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in EYFS with non-verbal Autism (ASD) and complex needs in a welcoming Barnet primary school.
This is a high-support role, ideal for someone with experience working with pupils who require consistent structure, sensory support and alternative communication strategies. The school is looking for someone who can provide a calm, reassuring presence while maintaining clear routines and expectations.
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals, your responsibilities will include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with non-verbal ASD and complex needs
Supporting communication using PECS, Makaton, visuals or other SALT strategies
Assisting with sensory regulation and transitions throughout the school day
Delivering structured, play-based learning tailored to the pupil's needs
Supporting emotional regulation using calm, consistent approaches
Encouraging engagement, interaction and early development skills
Working collaboratively with staff to implement personalised support plans
This role requires someone confident working with high levels of need, who understands how to balance nurture with structure.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience supporting non-verbal ASD and complex needs (essential)
Understanding of SALT strategies, sensory needs and early development
Calm, patient and resilient approach
Comfortable working in an EYFS setting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
