The School and Role

This Good SEND school, based in Ashington, supports children and young people aged 2-19 and is looking to appoint a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in Key Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4 on a full-time basis.

Working in this EYFS, Primary, Secondary and Post-16 SEND school as part of an established team, the desired SEN Teaching Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

This full time SEN Teaching Assistant role is long term from November ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.

You will assist the class teacher with supporting teaching and learning, leading small group and 1:1 interventions as well as assisting pupils with their individual needs including personal care. You will be responsible for behaviour management as well as supporting the progress of pupils, liaising with staff and parents and participating in weekly CPD sessions.

Hours for the role are Monday - Friday 8:30-3:30pm.

Requirements

The desired SEN Teaching Assistant will have;

- Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children

- Experience of working with pupils with SEND

- A passion for the progress of all SEND pupils

- An ability to work as part of a team
