Educated Appointments are delighted to be supporting one of our further education providers in recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to work from their site in Bury, Manchester.


To deliver excellent and inclusive teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom, so that learners are inspired to succeed and progress.
To plan delivery so schemes of work, lesson plans and individual learning plans support learner progress and timely achievement.
To undertake ongoing high quality formative and summative assessment of learners work both in class and through regular out of class activity to monitor progress.
To initiate and respond to new curriculum developments and plan resources as appropriate.
Reflect on own practice, including teaching, learning and assessment, and review and implement ways in which the learners learning experience can be improved.
Ensure that the VLE and e-learning portals are regularly updated and developed to support learning in associated programmes.
Complete the appropriate documentation for trips and visits and work placements, paying particular attention to risk management, safeguarding and the quality of the learner experience.
Participate in the interviewing of new and progressing learners in a way which inspires potential learners to study at Bury College.
Contribute to college marketing and promotional activities.
To be a developing and practicing professional and keep your specialist academic and work based knowledge up to date.
To ensure commitment to customer care at all times and to meet agreed quality standards.
To maintain confidentiality and to comply with the requirements of the GDPR.
To undertake standardisation activities and internal verification as appropriate
To maintain safe working practices to meet the requirements of the College's Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies and procedures.
To record and report on assessment progress and learner performance through ProMonitor.
To integrate appropriate and inspirational curriculum resources, including ILT into lessons.
Carry out other such duties as may be determined by the Line Manager from time to time within the general scope of the post.
To ensure that learners succeed progress reviews, production of ILP's monitoring progress against target grades, recording of marks on College systems, monitoring of attendance and retention, and taking action as appropriate.
To be a Personal Tutor and contribute to the delivery of a full Personal Development and study programme entitlement to learners.

A minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or a related subject) is essential

A higher level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a willingness to work towards, is desirable

A full teaching qualification or professional recognition in learning and skills or currently working towards. is essential

A good standard of education including Maths and English Grade A* - C (or equivalent) or Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy is essential

QTS/QTLS or willingness to work towards, is desirable


Experience of successful teaching (or teaching practice for NT's over a variety of age ranges) on Mechanical Engineering courses, or similar, is essential.

Experience of integrating ILT into lessons to assist learner achievement.

Experience of producing effective schemes of work and lesson plans.

Integrating high quality formative assessments into classroom delivery.

Evidence of inclusive and challenging teaching strategies

Supporting students to attend and meeting individual needs.

Being an effective team member.

Experience of being a Personal Tutor is desirable
