Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Full-time 5 days per week
Secondary Schools across the London Borough of Merton

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a range of welcoming and forward-thinking secondary schools across Merton. This is a full-time, five-days-per-week role, ideal for an HLTA who is passionate about making a real difference in young people's education.

The Role:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across a range of secondary subjects

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher

  • Working with small groups or individuals to support academic progress

  • Supporting students with a range of needs, including SEN

  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom



The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds HLTA status or equivalent experience

  • Has experience working in a secondary school setting

  • Is confident leading classes and supporting learning independently

  • Demonstrates strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to inclusive education
