Health & Welfare Coordinator
Salary: £34,631 - £39,996 per annum
Contract: Fixed Term for 12 Months
Location: Sheffield
Hours: 37 hours per week x 52 weeks per year

About the Role
We have an exciting 12 Month project to support our Health and Welfare Officer! As Health and Welfare Coordinator you will work alongside the HWO to implement practical solutions to maintain the health and safety of students with medical conditions. This role is essential to meet requirements in ‘supporting students and staff’ and is fundamental in ensuring a solid base for student achievement and mental wellbeing.
This is a fixed-term 12-month contract with the potential to be made permanent, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital role in student and staff health and wellbeing at The Sheffield College.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the HWO and Academy areas to conduct risk assessments for students
- Liaising with students, parents or guardians
- Respond and support further actions relating to First Aid or Mental First Aid incidents
- Delivering and assessing First Aid, Emergency First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid training for staff
- Monitor First Aid Room and Resources
- Undertake departmental risk assessment audits (medical conditions)

Skills & Knowledge

- It is essential to have level 3 AET (Award in Education & Training)
- Health Care Assistant (or similar role considered) experience of working in a clinical setting (general medicine)
- Must have a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent Healthcare related NVQ)
- Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults Level 2 training.
- A Mental Health First Aid Certification would be desirable but not essential
- It is essential to have level 3 AET (Award in Education & Training)
- Driving license and access to your own vehicle
