About the role:

Hawley Woods School in Camberley is due to open in Autumn 2024. As Head Teacher you will be an integral part of the project team, designing, building and registering a brand-new state-of-the-art school for secondary age children with autism spectrum conditions and social, emotional and mental health needs. You will also lead on the recruitment of a new staff team in readiness for welcoming in the first children from Autumn 2024.

Once open you will ensure consistent, high-quality education is delivered to all children that attend the school, so they are enabled to grow spiritually, morally, intellectually, physically, and socially.

You will ensure effective behaviour management strategies are adhered to so a rich learning environment exists for all children. You will provide equality of opportunity by encouraging, developing, and challenging the abilities, skills and interests of each pupils recognising and valuing their differences. You will encourage each child to participate with confidence and enthusiasm and develop a sense of self respect, independence, responsibility, and fun.

You will ensure the quality of learning experiences for all our children is best in class and that the school demonstrates substantial pupil progress on both academic and non-academic levels, whilst instilling a culture of best practice in the school where everyone is working to achieve a common goal which is clearly understood by all.

You will create a working environment within which colleagues are motivated and empowered to support all children to achieve their best possible outcomes.

About you:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude who is committed to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school. You will hold QTS and ideally NPQH. A qualification in SEND is desirable. You will have demonstrable leadership and management experience in a SEN school along with substantial experience teaching children with autism spectrum conditions and social emotional and mental health needs. You will have had involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning, and you will be able to demonstrate your experience of successful line management and staff development along with your experience of working with therapeutic teams and developing a relevant curriculum.
