Feltham Full-Time One Academic Year Teacher Training Progression
Tradewind Recruitment is working with a mainstream primary school in Feltham to recruit a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 class for the full academic year. This role is ideal for a graduate who is serious about pursuing a career in teaching and would like to gain meaningful classroom experience before progressing into formal teacher training.
The successful candidate will join the school through Tradewind and, subject to a successful year, will be supported to progress onto the school's teacher training route. This includes the opportunity to interview for a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status.

The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Year 5 class teacher, supporting learning across the curriculum and helping pupils prepare for the transition into Upper Key Stage 2.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils during whole-class lessons
- Working with small groups and occasionally on a one-to-one basis
- Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Supporting behaviour and engagement in line with school policies
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and academic progress
- Gaining first-hand experience of planning, assessment and classroom practice
This role is designed to give you a realistic insight into teaching and prepare you for formal teacher training.

This role would suit someone who:
- Holds a degree in any subject area (or is due to graduate this year)
- Has a genuine interest in becoming a primary school teacher
- Is confident, professional and eager to learn
- Communicates well with pupils and staff
- Can commit to a full academic year
- Intends to progress into Initial Teacher Training
Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential.
