BSL Teaching Assistant

Camden

ASAP Start

Salary: 90 - 110 per day

TimePlan Education are pleased to be working with a mainstream primary school in the borough of Camden. They are recruiting several Teaching Assistants with a BSL level 2 or 3 qualification, awarded by Signature or a reputable organisation.The school are happy to consider applicants who are fluent in BSL through personal experience. The shortlisted candidates will work within the Deaf Support Unit. This position is a full-time, long-term role paid via the agency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To sign for students with hearing impairments
  • To create and maintain accurate records on learner's progress.
  • To overcome barriers to learning
  • You will be working with students Secondary School aged in classes of 30 children.
  • To be a positive role model.
  • To contribute to the development of the Deaf unit
  • To follow the school's procedures for planning and assessment, keeping accurate records.
  • Sometimes supporting in small classes and creating a safe environment for all.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Certified in British Sign language (B.S.L.) Min L2
  • Experience working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Ability to relay B.S.L. from deaf students to non-signing students.
  • Be dedicated, engaging and inspiring.
  • Be committed to ensuring pupils make good, sustained progress.
  • Assist and support the classroom teacher with the day-to-day running of a class.
  • Will go above and beyond to change the lives of young people.
  • Excels in building solid relationships with students and staff.
  • Can adjust to and overcome challenges whilst following appropriate protocol.
