A warm and inclusive primary school in Pontypool are looking for a dedicated autism Teaching Assistant to work closely with a wonderful Year 3 pupil who thrives with consistency, patience, and calm encouragement. This is a highly rewarding 1:1 role where relationship-building is everything. You'll be joining a school that genuinely values its support staff - you won't just be "an extra pair of hands".
What the role involves:
- Providing 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with autism
- Helping to create a calm, structured and predictable learning environment
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social interaction
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans
- Encouraging independence in learning and daily routines
What we're looking for:
- Experience working with children with autism or additional learning needs (school, care or similar settings)
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Ability to build trust and strong relationships with a pupil over time
- Good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential
