Salary Scale: £75 to £100 per day

Are you passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a secondary school setting?

GSL Education Newcastle is seeking an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Teaching Assistant for a secondary school in South Shields. This role is ideal for individuals dedicated to positively impacting the educational experience of students with ASD. The position can be part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's availability and the school's needs.

Job Summary: The ASD Teaching Assistant will be crucial in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder within a secondary school environment. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to meet each student's unique needs. You will be responsible for assisting in the planning and delivery of lessons, implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and providing one-on-one support to students, ensuring they are fully engaged and making progress in their learning.

Responsibilities of an ASD Teaching Assistant Secondary:

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with ASD.
  • Assist in the implementation of IEPs tailored to individual student needs.
  • Support the class teacher in managing the classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record students' progress and report findings to the SENCO.
  • Foster a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications of an ASD Teaching Assistant Secondary:

  • Experience working with students with ASD in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to working with students with special needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (preferred).
