About the Role

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and adaptable ASD Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 child with Autism (ASD) and speech and language needs. This role is based in a nurturing primary school in Bournville (B30) and offers the potential to become permanent. You'll play a vital role in helping the child develop their communication skills, build confidence, and engage with their learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD and speech and language needs.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets and support plans.
  • Use tailored strategies to promote speech and language development.
  • Encourage social interaction and encourage engagement through structured activities.
  • Adapt communication styles, including visual aids, PECS, and Makaton, to meet individual needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) and speech and language needs.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and implementing individual support plans.
  • Familiarity with communication tools like PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables (desirable).
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to SEN support.
