Protocol are proud to be working in partnership with a vibrant and diverse university located in London in their search for a Legal Advice Centre Director and Senior Lecturer.

As the Legal Advice Centre Director, you will support the University's ethos of civic engagement and the support of their students, as well as the local community, to make a positive impact on their lives.

The Legal Advice Centre has offered support for members of the local community for a number of years. It has facilitated access to justice for those unable to pay for legal advice and has been an excellent learning process for law students who wish to go into practice.

As the Legal Advice Centre Director, you will also be acting as a Senior Lecturer for the University. Therefore, you must have the ability to supervise and teach effectively, using a variety of vehicles including flexible and distance modes, and ability to develop new modules, programmes, and new approaches to learning to students from a wide range of backgrounds and capabilities

You will have a Law degree and a current practicing certificate. You will also have the knowledge and a successful track record of practice, particularly in areas such as debt, immigration, housing and employment law.

Role responsibilities:

- Developing the Legal Advice Centre in conjunction with the university needs;
- Leading on supervising students in the Legal Advice Centre in their training and subsequent interactions with members of the public;
- Lead and teach modules of the LLB programme, with a particular emphasis on clinical legal education;
- Act as academic advisor to a number of students;
- Contributing to activities aimed at enhancing the student experience;
- Carrying out the administration and management of law programmes;
- Attend assessment boards as necessary;
- Liaise with local feeder schools and colleges, employers and other organisations as appropriate;
- Contributing to student recruitment activities as required including open days and later summer recruitment as required;
- Undertaking other such duties as may be assigned by the Dean or designated nominee;
- Work within the University’s equality and diversity policies.

The person & qualifications:

- You will have a degree in Law and a current practicing certificate
- Experience and expertise in high-street practice areas of housing and family law
- Knowledge and a successful track record of practice, particularly in areas such as debt, immigration, housing and employment law
- Experience of working in a Legal Advice Centre
- Knowledge of local and regional law firms to strengthen links to the professional community

Salary for this position starts at £46,487 and is inclusive of London weighting.
