Bid Writer

Purpose

As a key member of the Business Development team the Bid Writer will research, scope, develop and create high quality content to as part of the growth activity across the breadth of our service delivery. You will work in collaboration with the Business Development Team and wider business including Sector Leads and their delivery teams, Operational Support and Central Support departments and other Subject Matter Experts.


Key Responsibilities

Be able to write fluent, compelling and well-structured written responses for businesses and local and central government bodies including DWP and the ESFA.

Play an active and direct role within the proposal development process, including the planning, analysis of customer requirements, solution, storyboarding and the production of high quality written content to tight deadlines.

Contribute to work winning activity through effective and bespoke proposal and bid writing for PQQ’s/SSQ’s, RFI’s, ITT’s and RfP’s.

Support the review and critical improvement of written responses.

Lead and or support meetings with multiple internal colleagues as part of the response development process.

Coordinate, gather, store and use appropriate information and evidence to create compelling narrative.

Carry out research as appropriate to each opportunity and question.

Capturing specific and bespoke propositions and solutions for each opportunity.

Support and or lead the design and control of response documents.

Writing and creating succinct high quality accurate content with persuasive, creative and positive language for proposals and tenders.

Lead and support the creation of robust storyboards as part of business winning practices.

Liaison with the wider business outside of the Business Development Team to identify, source and capture written material to be used in written responses.

To proof read, edit and review written responses ensuring consistency and that it meets the clients stated aims and objectives.

Reading and understanding proposal and bid document requirements.

Support the effective transition from business development to implementation and delivery for successful bids and proposals.

Support the monitoring and sourcing of opportunities from procurement portals to enable rapid and robust qualification.

Completing tasks to the highest standard possible with tight deadlines.


Competencies and Behaviours

Knowledge, understanding and experience of the skills and welfare to work sectors. Including large employer, ESFA and DWP markets.

Significant experience of writing high quality and winning bid responses.

Able to work to multiple and tight deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy of information.

Flexible, adaptable and dynamic approach to work whilst being highly organised.

Ability to manage, interpret and understand complex information.

Excellent IT skills (essential) and use of bid writing and graphic software such as in design (desirable).

Ability to listen, take on board feedback and to improve compelling written responses.

Ability to build strong relationships.

Listen & communicate carefully and effectively (verbal and written).

Be able to work within a team environment and also on own.

Ability to understand the organisation, the service being offered, the customer and the wider market.

Ability to work under pressure in a target driven environment and must be extremely self-motivated.

Ability to contribute to bid and process improvement initiatives including lessons learned and using feedback from internal and external stakeholders.

Willingness to travel and work flexibly.

Flexibility for evening or weekend working if needed.

Bid writing qualification / training (desirable).

Experience of winning large employer, SFA and DWP contracts (desirable).
