Destination Education are currently working with a lovely primary school in the borough of Southwark who are seeking both full and part time teaching assistants.

These roles will act as a support to the Teacher in the everyday running of the classroom and as such would suit caring, high energy and enthusiastic individuals passionate about working with children or an individual looking to go on to complete a PGCE in Primary Education.

Your duties will vary depending on the school and the needs of the students, but will typically include:

* Getting the classroom ready for lessons and assisting with the preparation of the learning environment.
* Helping students on a 1:1 and small group basis.
* Assisting students who need additional support to complete task.
* Working alongside the Teacher to plan learning activities and complete records.
* Helping with outings, sport events and clubs.
* Working with other professionals such as speech therapists and occupational therapists (as necessary).
* Supporting students with emotional or behavioural problems.

In some schools you may have a specialism, such as English, Mathematics or Special Educational Needs (SEN). Bilingual Teaching Assistants are highly desirable and are often employed in schools with a lot of children whose first language is not English.

Previous experience with children is advantageous but not essential. Most important is your passion for education and your ability to provide the required support to young learners.
