The Sheffield College

The Sheffield College is making a significant investment in teaching, learning and the student experience by seeking to appoint a number of Learning and Development Coaches. In this role you will support the improvement and enhancement of our Teaching, Learning and Assessment by providing tailored coaching to our delivery staff. Working with a particular curriculum area you will also work with other Learning and Development Coaches and the Quality team to ensure the effective embedding of cross college practices.

The position of Learning and Development Coach will be responsible for developing communities of practice and a learning culture which enables staff to be professionally reflective, adaptive and resilient, in the pursuit of providing an environment that enables students to progress beyond expectations and achieve their goals. Appointees will also undertake teaching for a proportion of their role to keep their professional practice current. We have opportunities for people to act as a full time learning and development coach and also for people to work a fraction as a Learning and Development Coach and a fraction as a Lecturer.

Key responsibilities

* Coach teaching/delivery staff in your faculty and cross college where required to help improve and enhance their practice.
* Acting as mentor to teaching staff and support them in their improvement of teaching practise.
* The design and delivery of learning for teachers, which could take a variety of forms including online or classroom based.
* Acting as an Observer and undertaking Observations and Learning Walks.

Skills and Qualifications

* A recognised teaching qualification
* A relevant vocational qualification
* Evidence of having undertaken teaching, assessment or support related continuing professional development
* Minimum GCSE English and maths grade A*-C or equivalent


Reporting to the Head of Quality of Teaching Learning and Assessment for the faculty.
