A 'Good with outstanding features' school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest are looking to recruit a careers and sixth form advisor to start ASAP.

This role is to support Year 11 students making the next step on to Further Education and Apprenticeships. The role will also require the correct candidate to support with personal statement and college/sixth form and apprenticeship applications.

This would initially be for 2 days a week and could become permanent for the correct candidate.

This role would be suitable for those with experience within education and in particular those with a knowledge of the post 16 pathways. .  

The role includes offering;

  • Action Plans for students moving onto Sixth Form and Apprenticships.
  • Support and impartial guidance to students with SEN and attendance at their Annual Reviews.
  • Support to SEN students parents and carers.
  • Small Group interviews to discuss Post 16/18 Options and to explore career ideas.
  • Support with applications/job search and employability skills.
  • CV and application sessions.
  • Information sessions on Apprenticeships, Higher Education, Alternative pathways to University.
  • Guidance on the use of careers software/websites.
  • Updates on opportunities to young people

The successful candidate must have: 

  • A track record of working in education
  • An excellent knowledge and understanding of the value of using progress data on pupil performance to inform teaching and learning will be integral to driving student performance and attainment, along with delivering effective outcomes for all
  • Have excellent inter-personal and organisational skills
  • Be an effective communicator with strong behaviour management and committed to ensuring all students succeed and fulfil their potential
  • Have working knowledge of Post 16 curriculum 
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS (A full DBS check for the successful candidate)
