In a nutshell

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated individual to join our Learner Support division and help to raise the standards of Functional Skills English and maths delivery across all sectors. Through observation, coaching and development of English and Maths Tutors you will lead and improve outcomes for learners, whilst creating a culture of excellence

About the role

You will be:

* Maintaining own competency, expertise and professional development in English and maths and teaching and learning
* Planning and carrying out observations of assigned caseload of English and Maths Tutors’ practices in teaching and learning, making judgements and grading in line with agreed criteria
* Providing detailed verbal and written feedback to trainers based on observation findings with actions to improve their practice and support their Continuing Professional Development
* Providing reports on findings and impact of coaching and development
* Planning preparing, delivering and evaluate induction/onboarding for English and Maths Tutors
* Developing and delivering training sessions as part of a Continuing Professional Development programme for English and Maths Tutors

About you

We are looking for:

* An individual who is teacher trained (Level 5, PGCE, Cert ED, DTLLS)
* A teaching expert able to demonstrate strong understanding of pedagogy for delivering English and maths in both subjects at all levels
* Knowledge of the changing landscape in Further Education and Skills (new apprenticeship standards, GCSEs, reforms in Functional Skills English and maths)
* Previous experience of observing teaching and learning in work-based, classroom or virtual settings
* Understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and its contextualisation to new and existing sectors
* Ability to critically assess teaching and learning practice and its impact on learning against grounded pedagogical theory
