Job Title: Assessor / IQA - Mechanical / Electrical Engineering


Location: West Midlands / East Midlands – Candidates must be flexible with travel


Salary: £36,000

Assessor Duties:

  • Assess and support learners through full Apprenticeships in Product Design and Development at level 3.
  • Provide additional support for the delivery of Functional Skills (Maths / English / ICT) up to level 2.
  • Visiting/observing learners in their place of work to gather evidence towards their Apprenticeship/QCF qualifications.
  • Managing your diary efficiently to ensure timely visits and reviews are conducted.
  • Organise and maintain documentation on learners' progress.
  • Support, advise and motivate learners.
  • Overcome barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learner’s needs.
  • Meet Assessor KPI’s in terms of timely visits, quality paperwork and general administration.

IQA Duties:

  • Internal Verification / Quality Assurance of Engineering Apprenticeships.
  • Develop, update and maintain sampling plans in line with company and awarding organisations requirements.
  • Drive and promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide support and carry out observations to ensure an outstanding level of assessment, teaching and learning is achieved.
  • Attend / conduct regular standardisation meetings.
  • Assist in the planning and running of external quality assurance and compliance visits.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised Assessor award: D32/D33, A1, TAQA or CAVA.
  • Recognised Internal Verifier award (D34, V1, IQA, or TAQA L4).
  • Ideally hold own Level 3 Teaching qualification (PTLLS / AET or above).
  • Experience of delivering full Apprenticeships in Engineering up to Level 3.
  • Hold own NVQ Level 3 (or above) in Engineering Manufacture or Maintenance.
  • Hold solid occupational experience within Manufacturing Engineering (Advanced Machining, Intelligent Automation or Metrology).
  • Full, clean driving licence, use of a vehicle.
  • Must be flexible with travel.

  • Organisational skills are a must, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively
  • Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people
  • Quality driven and prepared to go the extra mile for your learners
