Job Title: Quality, Teaching and Learning Manager – Functional Skills

Location: Southampton

Salary: £30,000 + Excellent Holiday Entitlement, Pension + Much More!

Type: Full Time, Permanent

 Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage and support the delivery team, responsible for the overall continuous improvement, quality and effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment practices for Functional Skills (Maths and English).
  • Take a lead in the development and implementation of Maths and English across the centre.
  • Day-to-day management of a team; conducting one to one’s, staff recruitment, regular appraisals and performance reviews.
  • Monitor performance and ensure data / information is recorded timely and accurately based on learner progress, achievements, assessments etc.
  • Identify any Teaching and Learning needs within the business and ensure continued professional development.
  • Curriculum planning, design and development (including blended learning).
  • Support the quality improvement strategy, managing self-assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the policies and processes for the observation of teaching and learning across the business.
  • Analyse observation reports to identify poor performance and implement corrective strategies.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in the development and implementation of Maths and English (Functional Skills) provision within an Education setting.
  • Hold a recognised Teaching Qualification e.g. PTLLS, AET, PGCE etc.
  • Strong people management experience in a post 16 educational setting.
  • Relevant experience in teaching and learning practices.
  • Proven experience in creating and developing teaching resources and schemes of work.
  • Experience of monitoring provision against KPI’s and implementing improvement plans.
  • Ideally hold a recognised Assessor and Verifier Awards: D Units, A1 / V1, TAQA / IQA etc.
