*Trainee Assessor* Full training and support will be given to Trainee candidates to achieve the Assessors award.
 
Essential Criteria for all candidates:

  • Must hold solid occupational experience within Marine Engineering (Installation, maintenance and servicing of marine engines.)
  • Must hold OR be willing to work towards recognised Teaching Award (PTLLS / AET or equivalent).
  • For Trainee candidates who do not hold the above qualifications, you must have had exposure to delivering staff training/or on the job training internally.
  • Full, clean driving licence and use of a vehicle.
  • Must be flexible with travel.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of learners working towards Apprenticeship Standards in Marine Engineering to Level 3.
  • Delivering classroom / group-based training to learners, along with work based Assessment.
  • Deliver training and support learners with Functional Skills Maths, English and ICT to level 2.
  • Managing your diary efficiently to ensure timely visits and reviews are conducted.
  • Organise and maintain documentation on learners' progress.
  • Support, advise and motivate learners.
  • Overcome barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learner’s needs.
  • Assessors are expected to take part in Learner Recruitment to maintain own caseload, this will include generating recruits for the Apprenticeship programme by carrying out business development activities.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Ideally hold recognised Assessor Award (TAQA, CAVA, A1 or D32/33.
  • Experience of delivering Marine Engineering Apprenticeships and / or training in a classroom and / or work-based environment.

Personal Skills: 

  • Organisational skills are a must, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively.
  • Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people.
  • Quality driven and prepared to go the extra mile for your learner.
