Principal Teachers are acting on behalf of a secondary school near to Thirsk. The Head Teacher is seeking to appoint a qualified Teacher of English to commence a full time position from January 2018. The role is expected to continue until at least Summer 2018 but there is a high likelihood of the role becoming permanent. The successful applicant will be required to deliver an inspiring curriculum to students in KS3 and KS4, taking GCSE classes. You will have a passion for your subject and be able to use your creativity and experience to motivate all students to reach their full potential in English Language and English Literature. Differentiated planning and meticulous assessments will be essential to ensure students of all abilities can thrive and given the opportunity to progress.

This Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ school is located on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, serving a wide catchment area. Staff are very well respected and the school has an excellent reputation for its exam results and ability to improve attainment at all levels. Students within the school are motivated and have positive attitudes to education. Upon appointment, you will be welcomed into a thriving English Department with excellent leadership and management. You will be expected to collaborate with your colleagues to ensure high standards and creativity within the curriculum are maintained.

The successful applicant will have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognisable in the UK
* Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
* Previous experience of teaching in the UK
* Knowledge of the current Secondary National Curriculum requirements for English Language and Literature (KS3 and 4)
* Enthusiasm for the role and a creative flare
* The ability to form excellent working relationships with staff and pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds
* Experience of planning and assessment to a very high standard
* A commitment to improving attainment for all students
* A proven track record for raising attainment and achieving targets
