Principal Teachers have been approached by Head Teachers from secondary schools in the Northallerton area looking to recruit a pool of unqualified teachers (also known as Cover Supervisors) to service their supply needs on an ad hoc basis. The successful applicants will be required to cover staff absences and will therefore need to be available on a regular and flexible basis. The role of the Cover Supervisor is to support learning and manage behaviour within secondary schools and it is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to work within secondary schools without Qualified Teacher Status. It is also highly advantageous for individuals, who are considering commencing a PGCE or those with coaching qualifications. Due to the nature of the role, applicants must possess a valid UK driver’s licence and have access to a car. You do not need to be a specialist in every secondary subject area, but we do ask that you are qualified to degree level (or have extensive experience in training or coaching), have good behaviour management skills and can provide references to evidence your time working with children within the last year.

The role of the Cover Supervisor entails:

* Managing behaviour within the classroom
* Delivering lessons following plans set out by the class teacher
* Supporting students in their learning to ensure work is completed
* Following the school’s code of conduct and behaviour policy

The successful candidate will:

* Have excellent behaviour management and interpersonal skills in order to establish great working relationships with schools and pupils
* Have experience and confidence in working with children and young people
* Be flexible and willing to travel
* Ideally have a full driving licence and access to your own transport
* Be passionate about educating and supporting children with a range of backgrounds and ability levels
* Have a degree or be a very experienced coach with a coaching qualification
* Be eligible to work in the UK
* Be able to provide a reference to demonstrate your ability to train/coach/teach/support children, young people or adults within the last year

The benefits of working with Principal Teachers:

* No umbrella companies, you can be paid PAYE as standard
* Investment in CPD opportunities
* Over 16 years’ experience providing premium standard staff to schools across Yorkshire and North East regions
* We are advocates of fair pay and conditions and work hard to offer competitive remuneration for supply staff
* We are proud to be reputable for our ethical and friendly service
* Supportive Recruiters who will regularly check how you are getting on and listen to your feedback

Principal Teachers are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment vetting checks. Principal Teachers are acting as a recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy. Due to the high-volume of applications we expect to receive, only short-listed candidates will be contacted within 3 days.
