Principal Teachers currently has a vacancy for an experienced Geography Teacher to commence a long term post in a Richmondshire secondary school. The Head Teacher has approached PT to assist in the school’s search for a committed professional, who can deliver an engaging A level curriculum following the new curriculum guidelines. Experience of teaching Human Geography at A level is essential. The successful applicant will be a highly organised individual with management experience. You will be encouraged to assist in the leadership of a thriving and successful humanities department and motivate students and staff alike to realise their potential. Working with the other teachers within the department, you will need to plan and assess meticulously to drive A level results forward and cater to the needs of diverse classes.

This diverse school, based in Richmondshire, serves a large and diverse catchment area. The successful applicant will be welcomed into a thriving and experienced Humanities Department and gain access to a wealth of resources and excellent site facilities. You will need to demonstrate your ability to plan and assess to a high standard to ensure that students of a range of abilities are catered to and are provided with the learning opportunities they need to succeed. Behaviour across the school is good and so you will need to fully adopt the school’s ethos and policies to ensure standards are upheld.

The successful applicant will have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognisable in the UK
* Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
* Previous experience of teaching in the UK
* Knowledge of the current Secondary National Curriculum requirements for Geography
* Enthusiasm for the role and a creative flare
* The ability to form excellent working relationships with staff and pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds
* Experience of planning and assessment to a very high standard
* A commitment to improving attainment for all students
* A proven track record for raising attainment and achieving targets
