Job Title: Dry Lining Trainer

Location: HMP Wandsworth

Hours: Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000

Bounce Back are looking to hire a Dry Lining Trainer to be based at HMP Wandsworth, with potential to work at other establishments across South London.

Applicants should be able and willing to deliver dry lining training courses within a custodial setting on an ad hoc basis (to cover leave) in order prepare prisoners for employment upon release. You will set high expectations for the work environment and your learners in terms of security, health and safety and outcomes for learners.


- Provide training in dry lining
- Ensure and promote a safe working environment in line with Bounce Back and prison policies
- Plan engaging and challenging sessions with course material that meets the need of individual learners
- Provide feedback to trainees in order to help them progress and actively engage learners in their own evaluation and assessment
- Maintain group profiles, individual learning plans and additional learning support records
- Invigilate examinations and ensure that portfolios and written records are up to date to satisfy internal and external quality assurance criteria

Qualifications and Person Specification

- At least 3 years experience working within Dry Lining
- Level 3 vocational qualification
- Ideally hold a Teaching qualification, level 4 or above (DTTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed) – Bounce Back are willing to put a candidate through a teaching qualification if required
- Have excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Experience of leading and motivating others, ideally in a training environment
- Enthusiastic with a can do attitude and a real desire to add value
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to `think on your feet’
- Successful candidates will be required to undertake full security clearance.

About Bounce Back

Bounce Back Foundation specialises in reducing reoffending by providing training, support and employment opportunities to ex- offenders.� The Charity provides, training both in prison and in the community along with tailored support for participants whilst in prison, and resettlement services through the gate until sustainable employment is achieved. The Social Enterprise is a small painting, decorating and refurbishment business that provides on the job, training, and longer term employment options.� In addition, further employment opportunities exist with a wide range of employment partners in the construction industry.�

The Charity has training centres or projects in several prisons in and around London, with three training centres within HMP Brixton alone. �Our primary focus is to reduce reoffending by supporting ex- offenders into paid employment in construction. �We work to do this by training and equipping ex-offenders with skills, professional qualifications, and an understanding of how to manage self-employment, benefits and tax so that they can move into the workplace with confidence and complete the transition from custody into paid employment.

To date over 600 people have been through their programme�and they have a re-offending rate of less than 12% against the national average of 60%.
