Leading an effective procurement function for the company, providing commercial legal governance, advice and guidance to Babington Group and the colleagues within the business engaging in procurement activity.

Maintaining an up to date contract register for the business and supporting with the company procurement plan of activity.

Providing expert advice and guidance on contract management governance to the organisation, ensuring that efficient control mechanisms are in place for effective contract management.

Develop key relationship with stakeholders/partners offering expert advice and guidance on contract management governance, ensuring adherence to contractual requirements.

Develop and implement an internal suite of contacts, SLA’s, and NDA ensuring they remain up to date with current and future legislation.
Undertaking the management of high value/high importance contracts as required by the business, ensuring regulatory and statutorily contractual obligations to the Supplier.

Holder and owner of the Risk Register, ensuring that it remains up to date, identify any future risks and taking/directing appropriate action as and when required.

Identifying risks and managing any that may arise, through the operation of contracts and implementing robust financial and operational controls to prevent them.

Accessing the relevant Government frameworks and contracts.
Adopt a close working relationship with the Business Development team.
Producing and maintaining internal guidance documents and training on procurement and contract management. Driving continuous improvement within your own areas of responsibility.

Developing and implementing robust and effective policies, processes, procedures and systems to support the operational effectiveness of business in relation to procurement and contracting.

Leading by example as a role model for Babington Groups values and professional standards.

Being fully aware of and actively complying with Babington Groups policies and procedures relevant to your own responsibilities and to corporate policies and procedures including equality, sustainability and the environment, health and safety and data protection.

Provide support in Company Secretary duties as required.
Performing any other reasonable duties as directed by line management.
Member of the Strategic Leadership Team.

Skills and experience:

Educated to a degree level or equivalent – with either a legal or CIPS qualification.

·Experience within a similar role including leading a procurement function in an organisation.

·Knowledge of English Contract Law, and, EU and Government procurement regulations.

·Knowledge and understanding of the education sector, the qualifications market and an understanding of accounts and commercial organisation.

·Knowledge of supplier and contract management including where services have been delivered through a contractual structure of prime and sub-contractors.

·Experience of working in a project environment where development activities have been outsourced to a supplier.

·Experience of working in an environment where a significant contribution to the overall success depended on services contracted to an external supplier.

·Experience of supplier and contract management where the purchaser is a public sector body.

·Experience of managing risk and maintaining a Risk Registers

·Strong communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.

·Possess a flexible and resilient attitude, with the capacity to work under stress and to tight deadlines both independently and with others.

·Strongly analytical, with well-developed problem solving skills.

·Ability to construct and use financial models to analyse options and to present alternative scenarios.

·Confident utilising Microsoft Office software

To provide support, guidance, and expertise to Babington Group across all divisional functions in relation to contractual and commercial legal and risk work in partnership with the Divisional leads.

To provide support and guidance in relation to Corporate Governance.

Up to date continuous professional development

Knowledge of Apprenticeship programmes and sector requirements
