Hours:�37.5 per week - The service operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, but actual working hours will be determined by the needs of the service.�
Leave:�30 days holiday per annum which is pro-rated for any employees working less than 37.5 hours per week
Location:�Preston, Lancaster, Accrington, Blackpool, Kendal and Barrow

About the Role

Delivery of the mentoring service will help the CRC to introduce a more comprehensive custodial resettlement package, a more structured through the gate service and a community integration service, which will, in a more seamless way join up custodial and community delivery. This will provide better opportunities for offenders through the delivery of a linked in and tailored menu of practical intervention and community support.

The role of the Mentoring Officer is to provide additional support to Referred Offenders aligned with custodial Resettlement, through the gate and community integration services. Mentoring Officers will work closely with CRC Responsible Officers and wider supply chain and partners, where appropriate. You will be involved in the continual development and drive mentoring services.

Mentoring officers will work closely with and support volunteer mentors recruited to the service. The service works with a very challenging and chaotic client group which require Mentoring Officers with a proven track record and sound experience in support and/or advice work.� You will need to be a team player with strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.

The geographical spread of this post covers Cumbria and Lancashire CPA.� You will have a substantive post in one of the 5 CRC offices, but will be responsible for a cluster of CRC locations.

About the Service

Shelter are working across the North of England to deliver the new Transforming Rehabilitation Service.� Specifically, in Cumbria and Lancashire CPA the service comprises of a resettlement element, based in the four prisons and a community integration element based in the CRC offices across the Cumbria and Lancashire CPA.

The mentoring element which began in October 2016 is designed to support long term reduction in risk of reoffending through replication of desistance model. Empowering individuals to move towards independence through positive relationships.

About the Team

The staff team consist of a Contract Manager, Resettlement Manager, Team Leader, Mentoring Coordinator, 7 mentoring officers and a team of volunteer mentors.� It is envisaged the mentoring staff will work closely with both the community integration team, the resettlement team and with a wealth of other agencies and workers, including CRC staff, prison officers and staff, statutory and voluntary agencies.
