Are you a qualified teacher but have been out of the classroom for 4 years or more?

Alternatively, are you a secondary qualified teacher looking to transition to teaching in primary schools?

Principal Teachers is excited to announce the next date of our successful Return or Transition Teaching the Primary Curriculum course starting January 2018. The course is aimed to support those teachers, whether highly experienced or not, who have been out of the classroom for 4 years or more and wish to teach in primary schools OR are qualified secondary teachers wishing to move into primary.

You may be struggling to gain employment in the primary classroom due to a lack of recent teaching experience or you may be feeling out of touch with current curriculum requirements and recent government legislation changes. The course is designed to update qualified teachers with the current requirements of the Primary National Curriculum, whilst boosting confidence in teaching in the primary classroom through a supported placement in a North Yorkshire school. The course will involve attendance at school experience days and small group workshops based at our Head Office in Catterick. During your time in school you will evidence your teaching ability through the compilation of a portfolio based upon the Teaching Standards.

The successful applicant will:

* Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
* Be prepared to apply for a DBS check (formerly CRB check)
* Have completed their full NQT induction year (for those who qualified after 7th May 1999 *)
* Be eligible to work in the UK

* If you have not completed your induction year you can still apply for this course but upon completion any teaching work must count towards your induction.

Following a successful interview with one of our team, you will begin the programme in January 2018.

The course is broken down into 3 key areas:

1 Group seminars led by a current outstanding Specialist Leader in Education, where you will be updated on policies and procedures, safeguarding, the new teaching standards, the new curriculum and any Ofsted updates
2 Minimum of 25 days’ voluntary school experience to be completed at a time to fit with you and the host school. This can be full or part time but must be completed within 1 term.
3 Individual one to one feedback to discuss your personal progress and areas for development

Upon successful completion of the course we will make available to you an academic reference, written by the course leader, which may be used to support you in applying for work. We will also encourage host schools to provide a reference to cover the time spent with them. Candidates wishing to register for supply work with Principal Teachers will be fast tracked through our clearance processes so that we can offer you work to fit around your availability.

TO APPLY FOR THIS POST, PLEASE SEND YOUR CV AND A PERSONAL STATEMENT EXPLAINING WHY YOU WISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE COURSE
