Principal Teachers currently has a vacancy for a History Teacher to commence a part time role in a secondary school in the Thirsk area. PT has been approached to assist in the school’s search for a driven Teacher of History to commence a long term post starting in September. The role is available on a 0.4 timetable and the successful applicant will be flexible to continue on an on going basis. You will be required to deliver an engaging and motivating History curriculum to KS3 and KS4 students and you will also have Form Tutor responsibilities for Year 8.

Based in Thirsk, the school is held in high regards and staff are very much respected within the local community. The successful applicant will be welcomed into an innovative and experienced Humanities Department and gain access to a wealth of resources. You will be encouraged to team plan with fellow History Teachers within the department to be able to offer excellent learning experiences that cater to the needs of students with a variety of abilities. The Head Teacher is seeking a creative and dynamic History Teacher to instil a love of learning and share their passion for their subject with students in Year 7-11.

The successful applicant will have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognisable in the UK
* Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
* Previous experience of teaching in the UK
* Knowledge of the current Secondary National Curriculum requirements for History
* Enthusiasm for the role and a creative flare
* The ability to form excellent working relationships with staff and pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds
* Experience of planning and assessment to a very high standard
* A commitment to improving attainment for all students
* A proven track record for raising attainment and achieving targets
