Derby (based with travel in and around East Midlands and the surrounding area)
£268000 - £28264
£0.40 per business mile
26 days holiday plus 8 statutory (+1 per each continued year)
35 hours per week with a 3:30pm finish on Fridays
Whilst our client really would like you to be IQA qualified, they will still consider candidates without the award.
• We will consider candidates on a part-time basis (minimum of 3 full days a week)

Fab Recruitment is currently looking to recruit a Construction Tutor / Assessor for a well-established leading training provider working in and around the East Midlands area. You will teach, guide and support 14-16 year old learners (some with special educational needs), to enable them to achieve recognised qualifications in basic Construction (classroom based).
• To work alongside the Construction team to assess and deliver multi-skilled qualifications to learners of all ages, covering all aspects of the Construction industry (work based).
• To work with the Construction team to ensure that any examples of practice that require improvement are identified, addressed and monitored to ensure a positive outcome through the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) process.
• Engage with employers to support learners throughout their training in Construction by reviewing and assessing their progress and ensuring they attend appropriate off the job training.
• To raise the achievement of all learners, reinforcing the company’s high expectations of learners regardless of their level and results. To ensure that they have stretching targets which maintain their motivation, are focused on the challenges ahead and to encourage life-long learning.
• To challenge all practices and procedures within own role and throughout the organisation, to contribute to and ensure continuous improvement and quality.

Applicants must have;
• Recent, up to date and relevant occupational experience with the capability / flexibility to deliver more than one discipline (multi skilled)
• TAQA assessor and verifier award or equivalent
• Experience of guiding and supporting young people.
• Driving licence and own transport
• Knowledge/experience of qualification delivery.
• IQA Qualified .

The following are desirable;
• A teaching qualification
• A L3 or equivalent qualification in a Construction discipline i.e. Painting & Decorating, Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork, Plastering, Plumbing.
• Proven experience and / or a qualification to evidence the required competence in order to assess Electrical qualifications
• Qualified electrician eg. NIC certificate
• IOSH
• An understanding of special education needs

Key responsibilities;
• To design, plan, produce and deliver vocational skills sessions, using I.T. wherever necessary, to ensure all learners gain the necessary underpinning knowledge and practical skills required for their qualification. These will need to meet the needs of a variety of learners and a variety of resources will need to be used and kept up to date.
• Work with the Full Times Provision Manager to support and organise the IQA process in Construction.
• To carry out all IQA processes including planning sampling observation of assessment practice, standardisation / team meetings.
• To work with learners and their host organisation to identify training needs and to produce and update Individual Learner Journeys.
• To facilitate the necessary training for learners to achieve qualification framework or equivalent qualifications and provide guidance, support and coaching.
• To review and record learners’ progress in the work place and off the job, discussing and setting targets with the learner, the employer and others included in the learning process. To ensure the learners’ progress is in line with the other components of their framework and learner journey.
• To complete the necessary paperwork to the standards required in our contractual obligations with the Skills Funding Agency and other agencies. To keep accurate records of assessments, planning Internal Quality Assurance and other documentation required by awarding bodies.
