E-Learning & IT Support Specialist

A background within IT support combined with experience of working with e-portfolios (ideally e-Track and Maytas)

Provide day-to-day operational support and user training within the Business Unit. Support will be provided to employees at multiple office locations, working within the established policies and procedures of the central network administration department including use of an internal Help Desk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

IT Support (Help desk) - Providing call centre advice and guidance to users via the e-Track Help desk and supporting the team with any changes to new and existing learner environment applications.

Systems Support (Learning Tools) - Providing training to users and supporting the implementation and maintenance of new and existing learner environment applications which will be introduced or upgraded periodically.

Systems Support (Administration Tools) - Providing training to users and supporting the implementation and maintenance of new and existing education based funding administration applications/software which will be introduced or upgraded periodically.

Specialist Solutions - Supporting and advising the Business Unit management team with the ongoing identification, development and implementation of specialist learner environment IT solutions including Maytas/e-Track and any on line virtual course requirements.

Planned Systems Maintenance - Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on Business Unit systems during the extended work day.

Record Keeping - Maintenance of accurate Business Unit IT records as appropriate.

Data Protection - Maintenance of user access to the IT systems and the backup of critical data. Report any security breaches or incidents.

New Equipment Installation - Assisting with the procurement of educational related hardware, software and consumables. Configuring hardware and installing software as required.

Repairs and Maintenance - Liaising with hardware and software suppliers.

Reporting - Production of operational and management reports as and when required. Attend Business Unit meetings as required.

Training - Undertake any specialist training with software suppliers. Participate in the staff development programme.

Essential Requirements:

Good practical understanding of specific education software including Maytas/e-Track.
Experience in an IT support or development environment.
Knowledge of education and learning applications and systems.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
Microsoft Windows XP.
Car owner and driver.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Ability to maintain sound and effective working relationships.
Able to be flexible and work outside normal working hours from time to time.
