Principal Teachers has a vacancy for an Art Teacher to commence a long term role from September. The Head Teacher of a secondary school in the York area is seeking a committed Art Teacher to instil a love of learning in students in Years 9, 10 and 11. The position is available from September on a full time, on going basis. The successful applicant will need to have experience of delivering a practical and theory based Art curriculum at KS3 and KS4 level. You will need to show your commitment to improving attainment for all and be able to deliver a stimulating and robust curriculum that allows all students to flourish and achieve.

Based in the York area, the school serves a rural catchment area and is well respected within the local community. You will become part of a thriving and experienced Art and DT Department, where working collaboratively is very much encouraged to share best practice. The Head Teacher wishes to appoint a dedicated professional, who will provide students with the tools and support they need to succeed. Behaviour across the school is very good and so you will need to ensure these high standards are upheld and commit to the school’s behaviour management policy. You will also need to show your dedication to participating in the wider aspects of school life including extra curricular activities.

The successful applicant will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognisable in the UK
• Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
• Previous experience of teaching in the UK
• Knowledge of the current Secondary National Curriculum requirements for Art
• Enthusiasm for the role and a creative flare
• The ability to form excellent working relationships with staff and pupils from a
diverse range of backgrounds
• Experience of planning and assessment to a very high standard
• A commitment to improving attainment for all students
• A proven track record for raising attainment and achieving targets
