You'll know your stuff when it comes to engaging with and mentoring groups of learners from all walks of life, and you'll also be able to demonstrate your tutoring experience and occupational competence. Functional Skills Tutor: The role.

• Predominantly classroom based on site with occasional local travel to visit learners in their workplace.
• You will be responsible for creating Schemes of Work, Lesson Plans and creating an exciting and engaging teaching environment for learners.
• Experienced and passionate regarding the delivery of Functional Skills to learners that are undertaking an apprenticeship or alternative qualification.
• Proficient in delivering all streams of Functional Skills up to Level 2; English, Maths and ICT.
• You will be professional and approachable with the ability to engage with and mentor groups of learners from all walks of life, encouraging each individual towards a timely completion.
• £22k-£26k p/a (depending upon experience and qualifications)
• 45p per mile (business mileage)
• 25 days holiday p/a + 8 bank holidays (increasing to max 30 days with time served)

Functional Skills Tutor: The essentials.

• Teaching qualification (PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd)
• A relevant minimum Level 3 English, Maths or ICT qualification
• Knowledge of government funded employment and training programmes
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
• Ability to connect, mentor and inspire learners to achieve timely completions
• Proficient at managing own diary and time
• Flexibility
• Full UK driving licence and use of own car

Functional Skills Tutor: Your experience.

• Occupational history and competence within the industry
• Minimum 12 months tutoring experience
• Experience in a similar role
• A proven track record of meeting / exceeding targets
• Proficient in the use of paper based portfolios
• The ability to motivate and encourage people
• An interest in helping people develop
• Accurate report writing and record keeping skills
• Maintaining records of learners progress
