1:1 Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Autism & ADHD Support)
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Only
Pay: 105 to 110 per day
Start Date: May 2025

Are you a patient, empathetic, and resilient individual passionate about making a difference in a child's life? A welcoming primary school in Stockton-on-Tees is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with autism, ADHD, and behaviours that challenge.

This is a rewarding role where you'll play a key part in helping a child feel safe, understood, and supported-both emotionally and academically.

About the Role:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with autism and ADHD
  • Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and transitions throughout the day
  • Support access to learning activities and adapt tasks where needed
  • Use structure, consistency, and visual supports to meet the child's individual needs
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement strategies and interventions
  • Monitor and record progress, triggers, and behaviours in line with school policy

We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, or similar additional needs
  • A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to behaviour management
  • Confidence in using behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Good understanding of SEND and the primary curriculum
  • A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning (Essential)
  • Team Teach or similar positive handling training (advantageous but not essential)
