Working Hours:- 8.30 am to 5.00 pm OR 9.00 am to 5.30 pm

Salary:- £33,000 - £40,000

Purpose of Job
This project is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community fund.
The company delivers a range programmes for adults and young people including the Study Programme & Traineeships aimed at reaching out to young people 16 – 24 years of age who may not have achieved well in education and may have a number of issues that have prevented them from progressing well.
The main objective of the companies provision is to support these individuals, who are at risk of long-term disengagement, to move into education, training, or employment with training to sustain this outcome. We also want to increase young people’s experience and qualifications so that they can continue in education and successfully find work. Currently the Study Programme delivered provides young people with a recognised vocational qualification up to level 2 along with an opportunity to re-take GCSEs in English and maths or an access route using Functional Skills.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
• To provide operational management support of the training centres across the geographical areas TCHC work within and drive performance
• To ensure the quality of education provided to learners is good and working towards outstanding
• To provide effective leadership to secure the operational success of the centre through effective staff management and processes
• To build and extend sustainable effective local and/or National relationships that supports the growth of the centre
• To support the Head of Education Services to successfully implement strategic process and procedure, contracts, ensuring relevant funding and key performance indicators are met
• To develop and successfully maintain all programmes across the centres and ensure the effective and efficient day to day management of the centres in line with the strategic approach
• To meet individual and team KPI’s and targets as set out by TCHC
• To raise the profile of TCHC across Ipswich, Thurrock, Peterborough and Dunstable and other regions as required, by engaging with all external agencies including local authorities, young people, parents and the broader community to motivate learning and high quality outcomes
• Identify future business opportunities and make a positive contribution to their development
• To be part of the OFSTED working group, designing and implementing policies and procedures across TCHC to meet OFSTED requirements
• To ensure appropriate protocols and procedures are in place and being applied to meet OFSTED requirements
• To manage, coach and mentor TCHC Staff, Associates and Agency Staff to deliver good to outstanding teaching, learning and assessment to all learners which meets the individual needs of each learner enabling them to progress
• Ensure the projects for which the post holder is responsible, are managed effectively and with proper regard for propriety, value for money and financial controls
• Prepare accurate and up to date financial and management information on performance against targets
• Implement lean resource models, including optimised timetabling and staff deployment, which exploit new technologies and advances in social and self-directed learning
• Work to ensure accurate and up to date learner records and robust, timely and auditable reporting to maximise funding for each Centre
• Make regular checks on quality and service processes, protocols and administration to ensure they meet the standards of both internal and external audit
• Provide lead or supporting role on internal and external audits, Ofsted inspections and any accreditations as required
• Liaise and develop work with schools, to provide access to Employability Skills and Functional Skills to young people aged 14 to 16

Essential Skills and Attributes
• PTLLS, Certificate of Education or PGCE qualification
• General knowledge about types of training provider – colleges, higher education, independent, etc.
• General knowledge about community organisations and their place in local infrastructure
• Project and performance management skills
• Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint – intermediate competency required.
• Proven and successful record of partnership working in the employment and skills arena.
• Proven record of managing a successful team
• An empathetic, non-judgmental and ethical approach.
• Excellent communication skills – pleasant and professional manner - well-spoken – clear, intelligible; good standard of written communication – grammar and spelling.
• The ability to motivate and build a team capable of excellent performance.
