EAT Jobs is the place to find Further Education Jobs / FE Jobs!

Further Education (FE) encompasses a number of things, including sixth form colleges, work-based learning, charities, adult education and education programmes in prisons.

Further Education (FE) teachers work with students from 16 years to adults to teach work-related subjects, leading students to vocational qualifications. These Further Education professionals may work in community centres, armed forces, prisons, and colleges, covering general education courses, higher education courses, lecturers plan and vocational courses, amongst many others.

Most of those who work in Further Education however, are University / College lecturers and are specialised in one specific subject area.

People working in the Further Education arena usually have work experience and professional qualifications including a teaching area. Candidates for this area in England, Northern Ireland and Wales are required to hold a recognised further education teaching qualification, such as the Qualified Teacher in Further Education. Employers usually require level three qualifications, such as NVQ level 3, in specific subjects that candidates want to teach. Other requirements are completing teaching qualifications recognised by Lifelong Learning UK and having GCSE´s in Maths, English and ICT to apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills.

Teachers in other subjects can obtain a degree in this area by taking a University Certificate of Education or a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, specialising in FE.

In addition to Teaching and Lecturing, these professionals in Further Education will also be responsible for interviewing potential students, preparing lessons, liaising with awarding bodies and developing new courses.  There is therefore, an expectation that those who work in this capacity within FE will possess good planning and communication skills, strong knowledge about specific subjects with an ability to clearly explain topics whilst being patient, motivating and organised.

Find a variety of FE Jobs in UK Colleges on our site. Key roles include FE Managers, NVQ Assessors, Apprenticeship Assessors, Functional Skills Tutors, FE Tutors, FE Lecturers, Business Development Managers, Employer Engagement Officers and FE / Training Administrators and much more!
