Buckingham recently appeared in 20th position in The Independent league tables. This is the first time the University has appeared in this particular league table, and follows on from its achievement in entering The Sunday Times University Guide tables in September of last year. The Guardian University Guide 2011 ranks our Business School, English Department and our Law School at 2nd, 6th and 24th respectively. The Vice-Chancellor said: "We are delighted to have done so well, which we hope reflects our commitment to our students. Because the students and not the government are paying, we are incentivised to focus on the needs of the students rather than the requirements of government."
