Starting life as the Borough Polytechnic Institute, London South Bank University has been part of the local landscape for over a century and is today one of the capitals oldest universities. Since 1892, weve been priding ourselves on providing students with relevant and practical employment skills and supplying employers with a skilled workforce. What we do Vocational courses featured here even before the term was thought of and today we offer one of the most vocationally-orientated course portfolios available. We provide courses which equip students for their future employment. Were committed to maintaining close links with industry and the local community. Who we are With over 24,500 students, LSBU is one of the largest universities in London. Our students are drawn here from across the globe, throughout the UK and from just around the corner. Where we are Our main campus is situated a short walk from many of Londons major landmarks and were at the hub of local transport. Waterloo and London Bridge are some of our nearest stations and the London Underground is on our doorstep. Where were going Weve invested £47 million on our campus, set in the heart of London, to allow us to continue to provide the best student facilities. The first stage of improvements was completed last year and our new building, K2, now houses our Faculty of Health and Social Care and Department of Education. The building provides general teaching rooms, conference spaces and a cafeteria plus health skills laboratories and staff offices. K2 was built with sustainability very much in mind and houses the Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings (CEREB). This cross-university project, launching this Spring, provides a focus and location for research, teaching and demonstration of environmentally sustainable energy systems in buildings.
